Service: my experience over 38 years

Who I am is the product of my entire life. Each facet of my life contributes to the person I am, but no single chapter, by itself, should be why you vote for me.

My life is 25-years of Army service, retiring as a Colonel. Duty in Desert Storm, OIF, OEF, Central America, the Pentagon all defined me. Whether flying a Cobra in Desert Storm or leading an aviation battalion in Central American or getting a Form 5 staff summary through the halls of the Pentagon (if you know, you know), each assignment added to who I am today.

My life is 13-years of business ownership. After retiring from the Army and a brief stint as the Chief of Staff / EVP of a solar manufacturing company, I realized that I wanted to build a business and MAKE things. For 13 years I have led my company Solar CenTex in Harker Heights and although my time as a military officer was such an honor, being a small business owner has been the toughest, most challenging chapter because nothing is more real life than the world of profit and loss.

My life is 10 years of advocacy and public service. I was selected by the Bell County Commissioners to be their representative to the Bell County Central Appraisal District and my board members selected me to be the Vice Chair for two years. Two separate times, I served as the Board Chair of the Texas Solar Energy Society, allowing me to advocate and educate consumer and lawmaker alike. And in this 10-years, I have been a tireless local advocate for property tax restraint, accountability, and transparency.

My life is 33 years of being a husband to Jennifer, a retired school teacher from the Killeen ISD. We’ve raised two adult daughters who we couldn’t be more proud of. One is a senior staffer for a Member of Congress and the other is a registered nurse in the trauma unit of a major hospital in Dallas. They are the glue that allowed me to do the 25-years and 13-years and 10-years…and this service.
